Wat het ook brengt ze begroet het.Hoog op een smalle steen hengelt ze opgetogen met een gouden DAG in de aanslag naar het oosten om het eerste licht te vangen.&nbsp; Als een gouden haan op de toren van een kerk of klooster. Het wonder van de DAG, en ook het ‘Dag-zeggen’ tegen de dingen die wij vanouds als ‘dood’ of als&nbsp; niet-bewust bestempelen; dit meisje strijd voor opgetogenheid en een nieuwe wereldorde waarin alles leeft, beweegt en gegroet mag worden.‘DAG!’ draagt ‘de dag’, het ‘hallo’ en het ‘tot ziens’ in één woord. Tijdens de eerste ontmoeting met de locatie, Kloosterpark aan de Bangert, viel het open hemelgeweld over mij heen.Van einder tot einder, in de wind, kon de dag gevolgd worden.&nbsp; Al eeuwenlang. Maar waar blijft straks de ‘dag’, de einder als alles straks is volgebouwd?Kan ik het licht vangen van de eerste ochtendgloren en de Dag groeten? Ik maakte een stokje dat hoger was dan de huizen en de bomen. Om zo de dag te groeten. It was a festive moment in the Nio Project that was started by Dutch artist Jikke van Loon after meeting two Japanese temple guardians at the National Gallery (Rijksmuseum) in Amsterdam and had exploded into an artist-in-residence program, high school exchange, regional revitalization and exchange of hearts between people across the globe. Meeting the temple guardians in 2015 Jikke got intrigued by the statues and upon visiting their former home deep in the mountains of Shimane, she felt determined to reconnect the spirit of the guardians (Nio) to the town of Okuizumo Yokota and its people.Her zeal and passion inspired people in the Netherlands and Japan to come together, rebuild and bring the ancient temple guardians to life using Delf Blue tiles.Every tile is an artwork all together creating beautiful installation of the Nio with incredible depth and detail connecting people to the cultural heritage of Okuizumo Yokota.
